Restore Your Headlights From Foggy To Clear
Are your headlights foggy, hazy, or even yellow? This can greatly impact your headlights and impact your visibility at night or during inclement weather in Orange County. Don’t worry! You don’t need to replace them or open the lens to clean them out. In most cases, the haze is on the outside and we can restore them to a like-new condition.
The Clean N’ Dip Restoration Process
In order to achieve amazing results, we have to do a proper headlight restoration and this means we don’t use generic kits from the store. Instead, we use a combination of wet-sanding, polishing and coating processes to deliver superior results. Every headlight we work on will be slightly different. Here’s a general overview of what we do:
Clean and mask off the headlights: First we’ll give them a quick wipe down with our rinseless wash, clay the headlights, and then tape off the surrounding paint to protect it from the sanding step.
Sand the headlights: Next, depending on the condition of our headlights, we’ll sand them down using grit sandpaper from 800 to 3,000. This really depends on how aggressive we need to get. This is what removed the layer of gunk.
Compound and polish: Once we’re done with sanding, we’ll then do the last steps which is machine polishing the headlights to restore maximum clarity and gloss.
Apply protection: Lastly, we’ll apply a ceramic coating to your headlights so they can stay in a like-new condition for years.
This service takes around an hour to complete but can take longer depending on the severity of the condition, how intricate the headlights are, or if there’s fog lights to also restore.
You can also get paint correction and ceramic coating done on your paint and really transform how your vehicle looks. It’ll look better than the day you bought it!

Headlight Restoration FAQ
Can you restore severely foggy or yellowed headlights?
Yes, we can, but there’s a difference between foggy headlights and damaged lenses. If the headlight was impacted by a rock or something similar to where it gouged the surface, even after our service, it’ll still be there because it’s actual damage.
Is headlight restoration better than replacing the headlights?
Some headlights are only a couple hundred dollars online, while other makes and models can cost thousands of dollars to replace. In our experience, restoring your current headlights is an easier, more cost-effective method.
How long will the restored headlights stay clear?
The biggest factor to how long your headlights stay clear is how much time it sits in direct sun. The sun ruins everything on your car like the paint, headlights, and plastics. So the longer your car sits in direct sunlight, deteriorating the ceramic coating, the faster it’ll return to foggy.
What methods or products do you use for headlight restoration?
We use a variety of things like sandpaper, machine polisher, pads, compounds, polishes, towels, and a ceramic coating.
